Successful Delivery of RORO Equipment for “PANSTAR MIRACLE” – A Next-Generation Cruise Ferry Serving Expo 2025 Osaka

SMS-SME (Singapore) is proud to announce the successful supply of RORO (Roll-On/Roll-Off) equipment for the “PANSTAR MIRACLE,” which commenced operations in alignment with Expo 2025 Osaka, scheduled to run from 13 April 2025.

Built by Daesun Shipbuilding & Engineering in Korea, the PANSTAR MIRACLE goes beyond the scope of a conventional ferry that merely transports passengers and cargo on fixed routes. It is equipped with 5-star hotel-grade accommodations and amenities, offering a premium onboard experience that combines transportation with the pleasure of cruising. In response to these advanced requirements, SMS-SME provided a custom-engineered RORO solution optimized for the vessel's dual functionality.

Notably, rampways and doors installed at both the bow and stern are engineered to support not only standard passenger vehicles but also 20ft and 40ft container trailers, forklifts, cargo handlers, and heavy mobile cranes.

SMS-SME RORO equipment was engineered to enable smooth and safe loading/unloading of various types of cargo and vehicles under a wide range of operational conditions.

The ramps were also engineered with particular attention to the vessel’s sleek profile, minimizing the height impact when closed. In addition, the system accommodates the structural constraints of the initial ports—Busan and Osaka—as well as various cruise terminals the vessel may call at in the future, ensuring adaptability to severe quay conditions.

Looking ahead, the PANSTAR MIRACLE is expected to significantly contribute to the expansion of passenger and cargo traffic between Korea and Japan, and to foster broader regional connectivity through international cruise routes extending to China, Taiwan, and other parts of East Asia.
